Author Lucynda Koesters spent a year exploring the outdoors with her photographer husband Willi and their six-year-old daughter, all within a half-hour of downtown Louisville.
What they found were old-growth forests, lakes, ridge-top bluffs, and wildflower meadows scattered across more than 30 natural areas and 50 miles of trails, most of them overlooked by longtime residents.
