Cowdery traces the whiskey back to a small, centuries-old distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania, whose collapse preceded its product’s rise to fame.
Only around for about 20 years, the whiskey is now largely out of circulation. Cowdery weaves in the whiskey-making Beam family, the giants of post-Prohibition distilling, and the mysterious Mr. Hirsch himself. Cowdery is a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.
